We are excited for all the excellent reviews that have been pouring in following the IN THE GAME premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
According to this Newcity Film review,
The first glimpse I had of Maria Finitzo’s wondrous “In The Game,” about fifteen minutes of a 2014 cut, was a contained little knockout. (I was pleased to weep.) The feature, gentle, assured, compassionate, left me softly thunderstruck.
Brian Tallerico also wrote in his rogerebert.com review:
“In the Game” doesn’t position itself as a “statement film.” There are no statistics emblazoned on the screen. It is a study of one school athletic program and its players. And yet it feels more important than that. It feels empowering, even inspirational. You will lose some games. In life, you will play some games that you never had a chance of winning. But the important thing is that you keep playing.
And the telesurtv.net review said:
“In the Game” possesses a rare grit and honesty in its portrayal of the poverty faced by many of the subjects.
